Terms of Service

Last updated: January 2025

1. Agreement to Terms

By using PlainEDI ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use our Service.

2. Description of Service

PlainEDI converts X12 EDI files (850, 810, 820, 846, 855, 856, 997) to CSV format. We provide:

  • Free preview: Instant parsing and preview of all EDI files
  • Free export: CSV export for files with 10 or fewer line items
  • Paid export: CSV export for files with more than 10 line items

3. User Accounts

You can use our free preview without an account. To export CSV files, you must create an account with a valid email address. You're responsible for:

  • Maintaining account security
  • All activity under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of unauthorized access

4. Pricing and Payment

Pay-per-file:

  • Files with ≤10 line items: Free
  • Files with >10 line items: $5 per export
  • Credits never expire

Subscription:

  • Unlimited exports: $49/month
  • Renews automatically until canceled
  • Cancel anytime (access continues until period ends)
  • Fair use policy: Reasonable business use only (no reselling, abuse, or system strain)

Payment Processing:

  • All payments processed securely via Stripe
  • We don't store your credit card information

5. Refund Policy

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If any field is incorrect or data is missing from your CSV export, we'll provide a full refund—no questions asked. To request a refund:

  • Contact us within 30 days of purchase
  • Provide specific details about what's incorrect (file name, incorrect fields, expected vs. actual values)
  • We'll investigate, issue a refund, and fix the parser for everyone

Note: Refunds are for parser accuracy issues only—not for buyer's remorse, incorrect file uploads, or misunderstanding of our service.

6. Data Accuracy and Your Responsibility

We strive for high accuracy, but EDI parsing is complex. You must verify all converted data before using it in production systems. We are not responsible for:

  • Business decisions made based on converted data
  • Errors caused by malformed or non-standard EDI files
  • Losses from unverified data use

If you find an error, contact us—we'll fix it and refund you.

7. File Storage and Deletion

  • Uploaded EDI files are stored securely on Google Cloud (Firebase)
  • Files are encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Files are automatically deleted after 30 days
  • You can delete files manually anytime from your dashboard

8. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Upload malicious files or attempt to exploit our system
  • Resell our service without written permission
  • Abuse unlimited plans (e.g., processing thousands of files per day)
  • Reverse engineer our parser
  • Use our service for illegal purposes

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.

9. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of your EDI files. We retain ownership of our parser, software, and Service. The CSV files we generate are yours to use freely.

10. Service Availability

We aim for 99.9% uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance with minimal notice. We're not liable for downtime or service interruptions.

11. Limitation of Liability

PlainEDI is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
  • Damages exceeding the amount you paid us in the past 12 months

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold PlainEDI harmless from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

14. Termination

You may terminate your account anytime by contacting us. We may terminate accounts that violate these Terms with or without notice.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration.
